The birth of a child is the most spectacular event in people’s lives.
But, 2.4 million babies die in the first 4 weeks of life…which means 6,700 new-borns die each day.
Many of these deaths occur when babies are born too early and too small, or with infections, or if babies are asphyxiated around the time of delivery. Many new born lives can be saved by the use of simple low technological interventions.
There are many tools and techniques available that we can be sharing with each other to reduce deaths.
As the Health Outcomes and Patient Safety (HOPS) Committee of the International Rotary Fellowship of Healthcare Professionals, we know we can do better.
